NCEJ Partners with FJMC

Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs (FJMC) - Winners 2017

The Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs, Understanding Intermarriage Initiative, received a Grant from the National Center to Encourage Judaism (NCEJ) in order to award grants to Conservative Congregations throughout North America to openly advertise that they are welcoming to Interfaith Families.

Synagogue Grants Awarded to Welcome Interfaith Families

Twenty three congregations met the criteria with a welcome on their homepages, specifically to Interfaith Families, along with a dedicated Interfaith Families page with programs and statements which welcomed their participation in the life of the synagogue.

Additionally, FJMC offered assistance in helping these synagogues create programs which appealed to interfaith households and their extended families.

Six of the winning Congregations received their award at the Initiative’s Annual Training in Bethesda on March 16, 2017.

The responses to this “Website Challenge” are still being received after the original closing date. Encouraged by the many synagogues who have been motivated by this grant opportunity to revisit who they are and who they want to be, the National Center to Encourage Judaism has agreed to have FJMC send out another “Website Challenge” offer.
